Cycling in the Valle d'Itria
This valley is ideal for two wheels — quiet lanes through the olive groves, gentle enough gradients that an e-bike turns any distance into an easy afternoon, and no shortage of reasons to stop.
Nature Bikes, just outside Cisternino, is who we send everyone to. Electric bikes with real range — about 80km before you need to recharge, which takes the sting out of the hills — and they'll drop the bikes at the house if you'd rather start from your own front door. Go it alone or join one of their guided tours through the groves.
Where to ride
The old aqueduct path and the Via Traiana — a Roman road, much of it still car-free — are our two favourite routes: ancient stone, silver-green olive trees on both sides, and barely another soul.

A few minutes from Nature Bikes, Monte Pizzuto is worth the short detour for the view alone — coast visible for miles in both directions.
