Food and Markets
Bon Marche. The best souvenir from this trip is what you cook with. There are excellent weekly fresh produce markets in Ostuni and Cisternino filled with great, seasonal and good value products. Self-catering here rarely feels like a compromise.
Market mornings
Ostuni's Saturday market and Cisternino's Monday one are the two to build a morning around. You’ll find plenty of high quality seasonal produce at good prices. With these kinds of ingredients cooking is made easier. Go early in summer, both for the parking and before the heat sets in.
What to look for
Puglia is famous for some unique products such as burrata, orecchiette and bombette. Look out for these local products some of which you won’t find much beyond the Valle d'Itria. We press our own olive oil from more than 1,000 trees on the property, and there's a quarter-litre can of it waiting for you when you arrive.
Beyond the produce
The region's antique and flea markets are worth timing a visit around — Martina Franca's (third Sunday of the month) is the most serious for furniture and fine objects, Ostuni's (second Sunday) better for linens, glassware and bric-a-brac.
